BCU White Water Safety & Rescue Training

The White Water Safety and Rescue Training course is all about teaching the tools and techniques to make you a safer, happier and more confident person in and around the white water environment.

Our instructors are all vastly experienced at running these courses and proficient at using the techniques for real on their own trips and journeys. This is a hands-on course where you get to practice being a rescuer and a 'victim' so that your awareness and technical knowledge improve side by side.

During this course we look at various elements including defensive swimming, rescue protocols, shallow water crossings, reaching rescues, gear choice, throwline rescues, stopper rescues, rope rescues, pinned boats and much more. This is a 2 day training course that covers all the required skills and theory (no assessment is required).

Due to the paddling environment and the boat control required the candidate should be confident in their ability to paddle on grade 2 water, confident swimming in normal canoe clothing suitable for a moving water environment, and a minimum of 16 years of age.
