Static Line First Jump Skydive Course

Keen to give skydiving a proper go? Then it's time to look at static line.

Static line is a perfect introduction to skydiving for those who are feeling a bit more brave (or maybe just prefer being in control)! For many, static line is the first step towards becoming a fully-licensed skydiver, but for others it's an amazing experience that can be shared with mates over a weekend!

A static line parachute jump (which isn't technically skydiving, but we won't tell anyone), involves clipping your parachute to the plane (with a steel cable) and jumping out from around 4,000ft. The cable pulls your parachute open as you jump away from the aircraft, meaning within 4 seconds your parachute is inflated above you, and you're free to take in the world beneath you as you enjoy flying your canopy around the skies!

The course - which runs over two days - starts with a classroom lesson on how to exit the plane, how to fly your canopy and (importantly!) how to land. From here you will move into simulators for the afternoon - putting into practice what you've learnt - before sitting a quick 20 minute exam. Depending on the time of year, you'll either have the chance to jump that afternoon, or (more commonly) you'll have an evening to relax and absorb what you've learnt, ready to put it into practice the next morning!

First Jump Courses are a great place to make new friends - or have some fun with old ones - and (depending on your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife) a great date you're unlikely to forget! Skydive Langar perform more static line jumps than just about any other skydive school in the country, so you're in safe hands, and a great environment to learn more about the world of sport skydiving.

Depending on how you find your first jump, the first jump course can start you on your journey to becoming a licensed skydiver - additional jumps can be purchased at the drop zone (costing £40 per jump), and within 5 more jumps you could find yourself losing the static line and progressing to freefall!

If you already know you want to continue, we recommend you consider the First Jump Course - 6 Jump Package.

Duration (Exact): You will be at the drop zone for two days - one day of teaching and one day of jumping.
Booking Availability: First jump courses are run every Saturday, starting at 9am. The team will contact you after booking to arrange dates.
What You'll Need: All equipment is provided by Skydive Langar, however we'd advise wearing full-length trousers and top (it can get cold above 10,000ft) and some sturdy footwear. Those with long hair should bring a hair tie. This course takes two days, so bring casual clothing for the evening.
Ability Level Requirements: No previous skydiving experience is required. A good head for heights is beneficial (but not essential)!
Physical Requirements: The minimum age of jumpers is 16, and under 18s must provide a signed copy of Form F106. The maximum age of jumpers is 55, and over 40s or those suffering from certain medical conditions must provide approval from their Doctor - Form 114a. The maximum weight limit for jumpers is 16 Stone/102kg, and they must not be significantly overweight.
Instruction/Guiding Details: You will have instructors with you throughout your training
Getting There: Langar Airfield is 12 miles South East of Nottingham and 5 miles South of Bingham on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. The Airfield is between the villages of Langar and Harby, and The Parachute School is located in the Control Tower building on the Airfield. There is a bus service from Nottingham, however the centre is best reached by car - there is plenty of parking on site. The first jump course runs over two days, so you will need to arrange accommodation for Saturday evening - AirBnB offers a range of accommodation options in the area.
