Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) is one of the fastest ways to gain your skydiving certification: as the name suggests, this is an "Accelerated" training programme. With intense coaching and in as few as 18 jumps you could be an "A Licence" skydiver qualified to jump on your own.
This course is a series of ground training sessions, instructor accompanied skydives and comprehensive de-briefs. It can be done in as short a time as 4 days or over several weeks or months; the weather and your own personal schedule will determine the timescale.
Your AFF Journey is broken down into 18 levels; this course covers your initial training, your Level 1-8 jumps - the main part of your training to jumping solo - and your ten 'consolidation' jumps to clear you for your complete A Licence:
Initial Training - This is intense and thorough. After at least 6 hours of training you will be totally confident and eager to complete your first jump.
Canopy Handling Level 1 - A briefing and test on canopy handling skills
Level 1 - Two instructors hold firmly onto you as you exit the aircraft from maximum altitude keeping heading and altitude awareness, performing practice pulls and deploying your parachute. You steer yourself back to the landing area.
Levels 2 & 3 - Your training continues with 2 instructors and new skills being learned with each jump.
Levels 4, 5, 6 & 7 - Now with only one instructor you learn turns, tracking, back loops, unstable exits and other skills.
Level 8 - You are cleared to jump solo!
Levels 9-18 - Consolidation jumps to practice all your new skills. You will be jumping solo but mentored throughout by your instructors.
