The Category System is a versatile way to achieve your skydiving "A licence". The initial step is the First Jump Course. After that you continue through the system paying jump by jump, learning all the skills necessary to jump solo from maximum altitude.
The course has a minimum of 6 hours training before jumping from approx. 3,500ft. Using static line parachutes which deploy automatically as you leave the aircraft, you steer and land your own parachute.
Your first jump will be Cat 1 of the Category System:
Cat 1 - 6 hours of ground training with practical and written tests. A static line descent demonstrating a stable falling position and safe landing technique.
Training continues through the category system to Cat 8 with new skills being learnt on each jump progressing to freefall, high altitude descents and - ultimately - your A licence.
